MY BACKGROUND

A Magical Start

I was treated to magic at a young age when dad used to perform mysteries on Boxing Day. As a 12 year old he used to entertain kids as a magician, so the interest was there from an early age. My proudest moment was taking dad to the Magic Circle which, to him as a youngster, was unattainable.

As a magician, Ben has performed cabaret and close-up for Prince Rainer and Prince Albert at the Monte Carlo Club. Charles Saatchi, Nigella Lawson, Angus Deayton, Salman Rushdie, Phil Collins and Lady Sorrel, previews for Bob the Builder, Harry Potter, Jimmy Neutron, Ice Age, Angelina Ballerina and Sweeney Todd (Royal Courts of Justice) as well as for Prudential, ABN AMRO, Daily Telegraph, Morgan Stanley and for The Imperial Cancer Research.He has worked for Marvin’s Magic, Upstage Theatrical Events and Crechendo (for kids). Previous venues include the Roof Gardens, Planet Hollywood, BAFTA, Cabot Hall, BBC, The Brewery, The S Bar, The Liquid Lab and most recently Wilton’s Music Hall. He was magic coordinator on Dr. Faustus (SELCAT), Pippin (Union), The Comedy of Errors (Gatehouse), Kiss of Death (Union), Pure Gold (Soho Theatre). ) and The Recruiting Officer (Farquhar Festival, Derry). He directed John Van der Put AKA Piff the Magic Dragon in Jurassic Bark  (Pleasance, Edinburgh) and in Love and Other Magic Tricks winning best production at the Buxton Festival.
